Friday Sewing ....... OPAM win .......

I joined in with lots of other ladies last night to work on the last of my Christmas swap gifts.
Managed to get a few things finished but this is the only thing I can show as the other photos would give too many secrets away.
This is the back of the gift. Love this Nancy Halvorsen fabric.

I also cut out and prepared the stitchery for this Natalie Bird bag I need to have finished for my Sunday Stitchers group next week. The fabric has birds on it so changed the mice to birds on the stitchery part. Found a bird drawing from one of Natalie's books so that was lucky.

A big thank you to Wendy from Sugarlane Quilts for again hosting  FNSI. You can pop over here to see what everyone else got up to.
Last month I won one of the October prizes for OPAM.  Thank you Peg and Kris for hosting again in 2014 and a big thank you to Kris for sending this gorgeous parcel.

I love this pattern as the saying suits me to a tee.
Well must go and spend some time with my hubby.
Till next time....... Happy Stitching..........

Boonah Retreat

Last weekend my quilting group had the second of our retreats for the year. There was a mix-up with the booking so we had to go one week later than we had originally planned. This just happened to be the hottest week-end we have had for years and as the temperature climbed to over 42 degrees, my enthusiasm for sewing seemed to disappear.
We spent most of the day, with wet Chux hanging around our necks which I must admit helped to cool us down quite well.
Just a couple of photos of what I was working on..........
Some more charming stars for November.

A scrap bin and scissor holder. I love this Riley Blake fabric.
We also put together a community quilt we have been working on this year. It is to be given to a little girl who lives in our area and is going through a tough time with her health.
This is the block I did. I got to choose the fabrics to go around the stitcheries I had made previously and complete it. Kathy stitched all the blocks into the quilt top.

We found a cooler spot under the house to pin the quilt layers together ready for quilting.

The quilting was done by Denise who organized who did what with the quilt. She did a wonderful job considering it's pretty hard to keep us in order sometimes.
I think you will agree, it looks very pretty in all it's scrappiness. Just the label and binding to go and then it can be delivered.

It has taken a few days to recover from the heat and I must admit it's nice to be able to work in my room with the air-con on and that is where I am going now. See you later.........

Some Progress made.........

I joined up for FNWF on Friday night. I'm not sure where the time goes but here it is Sunday night and I have just got around to doing a post with my results.
A big THANK YOU to Cheryll for hosting again, you can go here to check out what everyone got up to. I managed to get a bit done although not as much as I had hoped but every little bit helps as Xmas comes ever closer..
Firstly I cut out the fabrics for one of my swap gifts and started to stitch them together. I wonder if you can guess what it will end up being? I traced out some stitcheries to use in this as well.

Then I decided to do some stitching on the above to finish off the night and spend a little time with my hubby.
Well must go as it is getting late.........Happy Stitching until next time...........

OPAM for October

This month I have been working on some secret sewing so can't show any of that but I can show you a few Christmas things I have finished.
A Gail Pan wall hanging is complete just waiting for a rusty hanger and bells when I get around to ordering some.
I am so happy with how this turned out, used a Cottage Garden thread called Mistletoe and finished it off with some Nancy Halvorsen fabric.
Also completed 2 more Christmas ornaments. Finally found some trim I liked for the tree one.
So three finishes for this month.  Will also add these to 1 Xmas Item a Month blog. Thanks to Narelle from Pins and Whiskers blog for hosting this one.
Just a short post today. Have been busy as Chris took some holidays so we could paint the bathroom and kitchen which are now done.  I am still sorting out cupboards and trying to downsize by getting rid of things I have accumulated over the years but don't use now.

I think the worst part of painting is that everything has to come off the walls and put back when you're finished. That's slowly getting done.
Well must go, be back soon      ...........
